Representing the third generation of vintners in her family, Nicole “Nicky” Oatley launched the eponymous Nicole Oatley Wines label — known by its initialism NOW — in 2024. Beautifully curated to include standalone varieties of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc, the debut collection of limited-release wines draws upon the expertise of Larry Cherubino, Director of Winemaking at A.G. Oatley Wines, whose in-the-know reputation for sourcing the finest parcels of fruit led to the exploration of Western Australia’s historic grape-growing regions.

Presenting Chenin Blanc grown on the sandy soils of Swan Valley and Cabernet Franc harvested from vines thriving in the gravelly loam of Margaret River, the duo of wines has been crafted to reflect styles Nicky personally enjoys. Comprising a pair of new-wave varieties, they showcase the best of the west coast and collectively stamp an innovative mark on the country’s wine panorama.

A world-renowned Western Australia-based winemaker, vigneron and consultant with over 30 years’ involvement in the local and international wine industries, Larry Cherubino has spearheaded the success of the Oatley family’s wine endeavours for almost 20 years.

Known by its initialism NOW, the wine label — which launched in 2024 — leans into Larry’s impressive CV. His role as a former chief winemaker in Western Australia’s Swan Valley contributed to his knowledge of the region from which NOW’s Chenin Blanc grapes were sourced. Decades of experience in Margaret River ensured he knew where to locate the finest parcel of hard-to-find Cabernet Franc. And a slew of global consultancy roles and successes brought the know-how that only years of hands-on experience can shape.

Our story.

For Nicole “Nicky” Oatley, launching the eponymous Nicole Oatley Wines — NOW — label was a natural next step in her portfolio of accomplishments. The third-generation vintner has been immersed in homegrown success stories all her life, including fifteen years in the idyllic Whitsundays at her family’s iconic Hamilton Island and Qualia resorts, where she helped drive global brand positioning for the luxury destinations until 2022.

Inspired by her grandfather, Bob Oatley’s entrepreneurism and passion for producing prestige Australian wine — sparking the family business and evolving over generations to include her family’s Wild Oats and Robert Oatley labels — NOW represents a contemporary spin on winemaking: parcels of quality-driven fruit, sourced and crafted under the might of a leading name in wine, created independently of a traditional “bricks, mortar and grapevines” wine business.

Working with Nicky to create NOW is Larry Cherubino, the Oatley family’s long-serving vigneron and winemaker who, in meeting Nicky’s brief, has created a pair of wines that reflect both her personal taste and emerging trends. Naturally, Western Australian-based Larry looked locally, identifying two parcels of fruit that embodied the sense of history and innovation required for NOW.
